Meetings Next Parent Council meeting will be held Tues April 17 at 6:30pm. Meetings are very informal and friendly and a great place to bring up questions, concerns or just to stay informed. ** Please note that babysitting will be provided free of charge but please contact us to arrange ahead of time... Important Info Several members of the Parent Council executive are leaving in the near future and the elections for these positions are ongoing. Anyone interested in filling these positions is welcome. We are always looking for new members. Think about joining our team. Come out, have some fun, help out and meet other parents. As many of you might already know, the Parent Council has taken over the hot lunch program this year. We are striving to balance healthy food choices with the food kids want to eat. After much trial and error, we have decided to rotate hot lunch choices between Subway, Pizza, Hot Dogs and Taco in a Bag. As well we are always in need of parent helpers to serve and prepare hot lunches on Fridays, if you can help in any way please call Jenine at 527-5299
Parent Council Track and Field BBQ/ Hot Lunch Organizers: Some of our existing council members will be leaving next year as their kids are moving on to high school. As a result, the council needs new blood. You. Several parent council projects such as the hot lunch program and the track and field bbq are in danger of being discontinued without your help! It was discussed at the last Parent Council meeting that we are in need of someone to organize the upcoming track and field bbq to be held in May. This person would be responsible for finding and organizing other volunteers to help shop for supplies, set up, bbq, serve food and clean up. Existing parent council members are available to lend guidance and to volunteer as well but unless someone new is willing to step up and helm this project, then unfortunately track and field this year will be a brown bag lunch. The hot lunch program is also in need of a new organizer next year as it is also in danger of being discontinued. This volunteer would be responsible for organizing the ordering, pick up and serving of the lunches. Ideally this is done with other volunteers as well. Parent council volunteers are one of the reasons that makes Irvine School such a great place for our kids and without your help events, programs and fundraising for such things as new band equipment, grade 6 camp, the track, grade 4-6 swimming etc… would not be possible. Where the money goes... April 2012 - $7107 - New Band Equipment April 2012 - $500 - Grade 2 Tyrell donation April 2012 - $1000 - Kaleidoscope of the Arts June 2011 - $2200 - Grade 6 Camp Sep 2011 - $1600 - Jr High Athletic Assoc.
