Friday, April 27, 2018, Irvine School enacted the “Hold and Secure” Hour Zero protocol. Today’s “Hold and Secure” was requested by the RCMP and resolved quickly.
For clarification, the Hold and Secure protocol is used when there is a security threat in the community or criminal activity outside and/or unrelated to the school. This is not the same as a “Lock Down”. Students remain in their regular classes and the day proceeds as normal. All exterior doors and windows remain locked. When a safety risk is no longer present, the protocol is lifted. A message explaining the protocol will be sent to parents and guardians upon concluding the situation.
